Switching server version or type

Switching Minecraft version or server type is a one-click job in your panel. Pick the type and version you want, confirm, and we handle the rest — backup, swap, Java version, restart. No reinstall, no wiped files.

How to switch

1. Log in at panel.frizzlenhost.com and open your server.
2. Open the Tools → Version tab.
3. Pick your server type (Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge or Vanilla) and the Minecraft version you want.
4. Read the confirmation screen and confirm.
5. The panel takes an automatic backup, swaps the server files, matches the right Java version for your target, and restarts. You’ll be back online in a couple of minutes.

If anything goes wrong during the swap, the change reverts automatically — your server comes back exactly as it was.

What to know before you confirm

• A backup is always taken first. Every switch starts with an automatic backup, so you can restore from the Backups tab at any point.
• Downgrades may not be world-safe. Minecraft doesn’t guarantee that a world from a newer version loads on an older one — that’s exactly what the confirm step is for. Read it before you click.
• Plugins ≠ mods. Switching Paper → Forge means your plugins stop loading (they stay on disk), and vice versa. See Installing plugins & mods.
• Java is handled for you. The switcher automatically selects the Java version your target needs — no startup-variable editing.
• First boot after an upgrade may take a few minutes on big worlds while Minecraft upgrades world data. Watch the console; that’s normal.

Advanced

• Bedrock ↔ Java: these are different games with incompatible worlds, so they’re not part of the one-click switcher. To let Bedrock players join a Java server, install GeyserMC as a Paper plugin.
