Installing a modpack

Modpacks used to mean downloading server files, extracting archives and matching loader versions by hand. Now it’s one click: search Modrinth or CurseForge from your panel, pick a pack, and we install the server files, set the right loader and Java version, and restart.

How to install

  1. Log in at panel.frizzlenhost.com and open your server.
  2. Open the Tools → Modpacks tab.
  3. Choose your source — Modrinth or CurseForge — search by pack name, and pick the pack (and version) you want.
  4. Click Install and confirm. The panel takes an automatic backup, installs the pack’s server files, switches your server to the loader it needs, matches the Java version, and restarts.

If the install fails partway, it reverts automatically — your server comes back exactly as it was before.

RAM matters

Big packs are hungry. If a pack recommends more RAM than your plan has, the installer warns you before installing — it won’t block you, but an underpowered pack will crash or lag hard. Upgrading your plan takes effect in minutes; see the Billing FAQ.

Good to know

  • Players need the client version of the same pack (via the Modrinth app or their launcher) to join.
  • Installing a pack replaces your server’s mod setup — that’s why the automatic backup comes first. Your previous state is one restore away in the Backups tab.
  • Both Modrinth and CurseForge are searchable right in the Modpacks tab — pick the source toggle before searching. Can’t find a pack on either? Open a Technical ticket with the pack name + version and we’ll sort it out, free.
